The King George Animal Rescue League believes that spaying and neutering cats and dogs is one of the most important steps we can take to help control the pet population! In an effort to help people in our community, who would not otherwise be in a position to pay for the surgery, KGARL has teamed with the following clinics to offer affordable surgeries to residents of  King George and Westmoreland Counties:

Note: When making an appointment, please inquire as to the clinic's requirements and ensure you agree or comply. For example, clinics may require a Heartworm test or parvo vaccine for dogs, as well as rabies and distemper for all animals. If you have a KGARL voucher, please know that the voucher only covers the cost of surgery and rabies; all additional charges are the responsibility of the pet owner.

Additionally, most of the clinics will charge extra (or refuse surgery) for a senior animal, an animal that is in heat, a pregnant animal, or otherwise at risk animal. When making an appointment, please be sure to ask about any health or age requirements.

How Do You Request KGARL’s Help?

If, after you contact each of the low cost clinics for pricing information, you find you are unable to afford the surgery fees, the King George Animal Rescue League may be able to help. KGARL is thrilled that we are able to provide spay/neuter assistance to members of King George and Westmoreland Counties . The volunteers of KGARL work hard to raise money and obtain grants for spay/neuter funding. Please fill out the application (submit one application per pet to help our volunteers), and realize that every dollar you can pay toward the alteration of your pet is money we can use to help someone else!

NOTE: If you are submitting an application for more than one pet, you will save time on data entry if you create an account on our website. While logged in, you will not need to enter your name and address on every form submission.

Starting on January 1st , 2016, we will require applicants to pay a minimum of $20 for each spay/neuter voucher. Unfortunately, due to reduced funding, we are no longer able to offer free vouchers, except in cases of hardship, or active duty military. If you believe you qualify for a free voucher, please mail (PO Box 1003, Dahlgren, VA 22448), fax (888-542-7582), or email (spay@kgarl.org) proof of one of the following:

  • State or federally funded welfare program
  • Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
  • Social Security
  • SSI Disability
  • Unemployment
  • Non-commissioned active military
  • Extreme medical expense, loss of home due to natural disaster, etc.
  • Pay stub proving income meets state or federal low income or WIC guidelines

Vouchers are limited to four per household. If you have more than 4 pets or if you are trapping more than 4 feral/stray cats, please email us at spay@kgarl.org  for approval, prior to submitting an application.
