King George Home & Craft Show

The King George Home and Craft Show will be held on March 5th and 6th at the King George High School.  This is great event for KGARL because it allows us to meet a lot of people within our community and share information about the rescue league.  This year we will have a table set up with an assortment of items for sale, and raffles for great prizes!

The annual King George Home & Crafts Show is the Northern Neck of Virginia's premier trade show featuring a unique blend of builders, home contractors, suppliers & other remodeling and home furnishings companies along with a wide variety of artisans, crafters, and gifts vendors. This mix provides broader dimensions to the show , attracting a wider array of visitors and shoppers. It's the ONE show that offers everything for the home .....including the home !

The times of the show are:
0900 - 1600 Saturday, March 5th
1100 - 1500 Sunday, March 6th

The Community Give is a 24-hour day of giving on Tuesday May 3, 2016 from 12:00 a.m. until midnight . It is a day when everyone in our region is asked to make a donation and show support for the local nonprofit organizations that positively impact our lives every day. KGARL will have a booth at this year's Stratford Hall Wine Festival. This popular event features wines from Virginia wineries and oysters from Chesapeake Bay and Tidewater oyster growers. Savor the varied tastes of oysters and a wide variety of seafood options. Enjoy other specialty foods, arts and crafts, family entertainment, FREE self-guided Great House tours and much more. Gates are open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. 

The Second Annual Big WOW event will be held on the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail (DRHT), an open space, which serves as an active wildlife corridor, open for non-motorized uses such as cycling, jogging, and walking. 

This is an Event for the Whole Family!! Several options will be available to accommodate everyone’s abilities and fitness levels including a 1 mile, 5k and 10k. Feel free to hike, walk or run along this beautiful nature trail. The DRHT is wheelchair accessible for about the first 1/2 mile. There will be the WOW Kids Obstacle Course full of fun activities for kids of all ages. There will be a WOW Dogs Obstacle Course, so you can spoil your furry friends, too! We are also hoping to offer a ha nd cart operated by one of our volunteers for anyone who wants to explore the trail on the 1/2 mile of functioning rail tracks. Additional activities are also being planned, so stay tuned for more fun details!

Bigger and better this year with more family fun! Join us at Old Mill park for this dog friendly run/walk on the Heritage Trail to benefit The King George Animal Rescue League. All registrants will recieve a free t-shirt and a cupcake. If you do not want to participate in the run you are welcome to come, bring your dog and a donation! We will have a bake sale, face painting and a raffle.

Cost to sign up is $20 +  $2.50 SignUp fee. Price increases to $25 after September 24th at 11:59pm. Kids (ages 5-12) are $10.

Enjoy a fall day at the park and see area artisans' finest offerings. Get a jump on holiday shopping. Taste wine from local wineries. A commemorative wine glass is included with the price of tasting. Great food will also be for sale. The picnic shelter, gift shop and visitor center will be open, and hay wagon rides will be available for the kids. Admission for wine-tasting is $15 per person (21 and older - everyone must have ID to taste). The festival is free for non-tasting guests, but a $5/vehicle parking fee applies to all. Coolers and outside food are not permitted within festival grounds.

Annual dog friendly trail race, kids trail dash, and now for the first time a canine after party! All proceeds for this event go towards helping the King George Animal Rescue League.

Howlin' Coyote 10km
Will begin and end near the Caledon picnic shelter. The course will be on a combination of the park's interior fire roads (not open to traffic other than park staff) and forest trails (single track). Much of the course is relatively flat by there are some hilly portions both in the beginning and end of the race.

Bark in the Park Dog Walk
Will begin  and end near the Caledon picnic shelter.  Two course options are offered. The 5K Boyd's Hole trail, which is relatively flat with a small hill at the beginning and end; and the one mile Wily Pup course, which is relatively flat and a combination of open field and forest trail. The walk will not be timed. This is a fundraiser for the King George Animal Rescue League.

Rescue Collars 4 Paws LLC has chosen KGARL as the beneficiary of their All for the Dogs Car Show, which will be held on August 10th at the King George Walmart. All cars are welcome! Entry fee: $20 or donate 50 pounds of dog food.

All funds raised will support the cats and dogs of the King George Animal Rescue League.

This family fun event brings together pet owners, lovers and enthusiasts with vendors that represent all aspects of the pet world. Look for pet related products and services at the show, along with hobbyists, ​clubs, animal rescue organizations, veterinarians and everything in between.

Tantalize your senses with the tastes from local wineries and restaurants, the vision of beautiful art from local artists and the sounds of great music all in the relaxing and beautiful surroundings of Caledon State Park, located in King George, VA. You will never attend an event like this! The Caledon State Park Art and Wine Festival is family friendly event and is held on two days: Saturday, November 2nd (10am - 5pm) and Sunday, November 3rd (10am - 4pm) rain or shine. Tickets are required for each day. Non-tasters and children enjoy free admission. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the gate; parking is $5 per vehicle. Carpooling is recommended. This is a pet-friendly event but please keep your pet on a leash and pick-up after your pet.

WHAT IS ZUMBA?

Zumba Fitness is a Latin-inspired cardio-dance workout that uses music and choreographed steps to form a fitness party atmosphere. While many of the types of dance and music featured in the program are Latin American inspired, classes can also contain everything from jazz to African beats to country to hip-hop and pop.

WHAT IS HOT HULA?

Aloha! HOT HULA fitness is a new fun and exciting dance workout. Inspired by the dances of the Pacific Islands it incorporates easy to perform dance movements set to the sounds of traditional Polynesian drum beats fused with Hip Hop and Reggae. It will put a sway in your hip and a smile on your face.
